Welcome to the Gold Coast Light Horse Education Museum and Heritage Schmidt Farmhouse. Here school groups, visitor groups and the public can explore fascinating aspects of Australian Military and Local History.
We are dedicated to preserving the important history of The Light Horse, The Australian Military and the Mudgeeraba Region whilst educating future generations about the significance of their history and heritage.

School Programmes
Book a unique and educational experience for your students with our specially designed school programmes. Our interactive sessions are aligned to the National Curriculum and cover various aspects of Australian military and local patriotic education and history. Contact us for more information.

Group Visits
Community groups will often arrange a visit to the Museum and enjoy the many engaging displays and the historic 18th century Farm House and grounds.
Entry is free but donations are warmly appreciated to help with the upkeep of the museum and the delivery of school educational programmes.

Our Exhibits and award winning school programmes
explore the rich history of the Australian Light Horse, Australia's Military, local heritage and patriotic education through our engaging exhibits and displays.
From the equipment used by the soldiers to the stories of bravery and camaraderie, our museum offers a captivating experience for visitors of all ages.
Open to The Public
This wonderful museum complex is open to the general public Sundays 9am - 1pm and Wednesdays 9am - 12.00pm. It is also usually open for major occasions at the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds such as the Mudgeeraba Show.
Entry is free but donations are warmly appreciated to help with the upkeep of the museum and the delivery of school educational programmes.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED
To assist with groups and
the museum complex
Volunteers who are keen to help keep the ANZAC spirit and local history alive are needed to assist with school groups and with general help around the museum.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - ALL TRAINING AND FAMILIARISATION WILL BE PROVIDED
Current volunteers include Veterans, Amateur and Professional Historians, Local Enthusiasts, Local Students undertaking their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Volunteer Community Service, Skilled Horse Riders.
